I counsel many cancer patients on what choices they have when it comes to nutrition for cancer. I am dismayed, however, at just how negative cancer specialists are towards just about anything natural when it comes to cancer. Believe me when I say that I understand that many of them have been turned off by sensationalized claims meant to capitalize financially from a group of desperate patients. Their lack, however, to embrace common sense nutritional approaches that work with traditional treatments does not serve their patients well.
I have come to realize that the single most important factor in the survival potential for any cancer patient is their positive outlook on their chances of overcoming this deadly disease. Patients who are committed to making it through this fight have a significantly higher chance of survival. Unfortunately, I see the light snuffed out, the excitement squelched, and the energy sucked out of MANY cancer patients after they meet with their oncologist. This is due to their completely negative attitude towards anything other than what they do. I think that this is an unacceptable approach.
Now, I can imagine that many reading this will possibly be thinking that if an oncologist does not know about a certain treatment it certainly cannot be all that important. I suggest that you read last month issue and topic, “If this supplement is so good, why does my doctor not know about it?” One thing that I have learned is that NO ONE knows everything. This becomes even truer when someone closes their mind to anything outside of their comfort zone.
My suggestion to you is that you consider everything if you have cancer. I can supply you with many studies supporting the use of natural means to aide in the conquering of cancer. Evaluate for yourself what you feel is right and get counsel from someone who deals with cancer and natural treatments. Of course, let your oncologist know what you want to do and ask if they have any objections. Then, ask them to be specific about why they have those objections. You will find that their unfounded biases many times will become very clear.
