L-carnitine is an essential molecule that is involved in the making of energy for your cells. L-carnitine is found in high concentrations in the epididymus, where they act as antioxidants, protecting sperm against oxygen damage. A recent study looked at the relationship between seminal fluid L-carnitine levels and sperm function.
Patients were given 1000mg of L-carnitine per day for six months. The results were significant for sperm motility (movement), live sperm count, linearity of sperm movement (in other words they were not chasing their tail), and in the capacity to penetrate cervical mucus within the vagina.
So if your sperm are acting like “girly-men”, give them a dose of L-carnitine.
